Sudden Cardiac Arrest During Sports Activity in Middle Age

 

A large population based prospective study of sports associated sudden cardiac arrests (SCA) in 35-65 year olds found that

· 16% had known pre-existing heart disease and
· 36% had typical heart related symptoms during the week preceding the SCA
